While we are all waiting for low-priced flying cars and interspaces traveling, Bogdan Putinica and Enea engineers are collaborating with The European Space Agency (ESA) and they are creating a software to guide home the spatial probes.
“Every time you need to get somewhere by car, you use a GPS. But in space, there’s no GPS. Yet! In this case, in space you must navigate using a sky map. All the space navigation is based on this kind of maps”, says Putinica.
Space probes are a high-priced resource and letting them wander in space after they get their job done is not an option. In this case, ESA challenged ENEA to find a solution that could guide them safely back on Earth. ENEA and ESA started their collaboration 4 years ago, and since then we are helping ESA in problem-solving by creating software for probes and satellites.
“There are solutions for every problem. Those are not always obvious, and they demand a lot of research work. This kind of job is a challenge that we love. To do this you need a lot of experience and skillful engineers, so not everyone could indulge such challenges. At ENEA, we love making these things happen and I think that we have the intelligence to do everything exemplary”, says Bogdan Putinica.
The Importance of Medical Industry
In the medical industry, technology is evolving noticeably. ENEA made a revolutionary step in medical technology while creating a software that can detect cancerous cells. Traditionally the lung cancer detection is made with biopsy. An important part of this software was built in Romania, while in the whole project were involved engineers from ENEA Craiova, Bucharest and USA.
The Blue Ocean
Bogdan Putinica started IP Devel, a business that was sold ten years later to a multinational. Today he is Senior Group Vice-president at ENEA, one of the biggest companies specialized in providing software solutions.
One of the businessmen that he’s been impressed with is Jack Welch.
“I found myself in his books. Today he is the father of modern management. What I really liked about him is that he was straightforward, he was a frank manager that at a first sight had a strategy that seem common for a big company such as General Electric. He said that he would do business only if he became number 1 or second worldwide. Otherwise not! And he applied this strategy in every business plan”, says Bogdan Putinica.
Following this logic, Bogdan had always looked for “his one and only blue ocean”, where there are few but strong competitors. And it seems that he found it.
